WHAT WE DO

Objectives

TRRM enables people to help themselves towards full development. This means:
Community Growth

TRRM works closely with fishing communities and has seen positive growth these communities have experienced in recent years. Through our work in promoting sustainable fishing practices and supporting local economies, we have witnessed firsthand the benefits of this growth. However, it is crucial that this growth is managed in a way that balances economic development with environmental conservation, to ensure the long-term health and sustainability.

Education & Training

Nourishing fisherfolk with the knowledge and skills they need to adopt more sustainable fishing methods, manage their resources responsibly, and reduce their impact on the environment. We also work to raise awareness among fishing communities about the importance of conservation and the benefits of sustainable fishing practices. By empowering fisherfolk with education and training, we hope to create a more resilient and prosperous future.

Events

TRRM provides opportunities for fisherfolk to network, share knowledge and best practices, and build community resilience. We organise events such as community meetings, workshops, and training sessions on topics such as sustainable fishing techniques, marine conservation, and community development. We also support local fishing festivals and events, which celebrate the cultural heritage and traditions of fishing communities.

Programmes

Women’s Empowerment & Credit Linkages Program

TRRM promotes women's empowerment in targeted villages by establishing savings and credit groups that enable them to combine their resources. It facilitates connections between these groups and nationalised banks to offer access to loans.

Fisherfolk Empowerment
Program

TRRM raises awareness among the fishing community regarding methods to enhance their economic activities and sets up Self Help Groups to safeguard their means of making a living.

Childline
Program

TRRM is responsible for organizing the Childline program, in partnership with the Childline India Foundation, with the aim of protecting children who are vulnerable to situations such as child abuse, school dropout, early marriage, or employment in textile mills during adolescence.

Early Childhood
Program

TRRM enables individuals to realise their maximum potential. To do this, we build parents’ understanding of the value of education and child protection, so they can help prepare their children for formal education, while also reducing the likelihood of child abuse.

Global Greengrants Funds
Program (GGF)

Global Greengrants Fund and TRRM have formed a collaborative partnership to tackle issues of solid waste pollution and environmental toxicity. TRRM is promoting effective water management methods and helping farmers to use organic fertilisers in agriculture.

Adolescent Girls
Empowerment Program

TRRM offers adolescent girls chances for personal and social growth through initiatives such as health, mental health and social awareness programs, vocational training, and educational and financial aid for those who have discontinued their schooling.
