About TRRM
Tamilnadu Rural Reconstruction Movement (TRRM) is a non-profit organisation registered to serve the marginalised people of Ramanathapuram District in Tamilnadu.
Starting its work with child labourers in Sivakasi, the organisation later focused on women's development programs and identified the need to uplift the traditional fisherfolk community. To address their livelihood issues, TRRM promoted a fish workers' forum as a platform and formed local groups called Sangams and federations in three zones. Recognising the need for economic empowerment, TRRM mobilised the groups into over 800 Self Help Groups with more than 12,000 members.

Vision & Mission
TRRM's vision of 'Participatory Action for Reconstruction of Rural Communities' means that the organisation empowers rural communities to actively rebuild and develop their own communities. This approach recognises the importance of local knowledge, resources, and cultural practices in achieving continuous development.
TRRM works with rural communities to identify their needs and priorities, and then supports them in implementing programs that address those needs. By involving community members in every stage of the process, TRRM hopes to build ownership and commitment to the development initiatives, which will increase the chances of success and sustainability.
The participatory approach also promotes social cohesion, and the preservation of cultural identity, which are essential components of rural development. Ultimately, TRRM's vision seeks to create vibrant, self-sufficient, and resilient rural communities that can thrive in the face of challenges and changes.
